The holiday home plots at 3 Laine street (‘wave’ in Estonian) and 5 Laine street were purchased by Prince Jeroshevitch of tsarist Russia for his wife, Sophie. The prince and his family holidayed here for many years, also receiving and entertaining friends from Russia’s nobility. For summertime sporting activities the prince had a tennis court built on the land. In 1915, the prince spent his last summer in Võsu and, as authorities were unable to establish contact with him after that, in 1929 it was decided to hold an auction for the plots. Sophie Jeroshevitch’s property was purchased by businessman Aleksander Ivanov, owner of the ready-made garments and fabrics store in Rakvere. The plot at 5 Laine street was later transferred to Johannes Viirsalu, a Võsu forester, while the plot at 3 Laine street was granted to Aleksander Ivanov’s daughter, Sinaida Kiisk, whose husband was Kaljo Kiisk, famous Estonian actor, director, politician, and Member of Parliament.
